Nor Siglar Slide Shows
|
|
|
Experience NOR SIGLAR's adventures at a fascinating slide presentation.
Hear about the many strange and exciting happenings both at sea and ashore,
about warm and friendly encounters with people of primitive and foreign
cultures far away from civilization. Vividly narrated, the shows are richly
illustrated with top quality slides from the most memorable moments of
NOR SIGLAR'S 9-year circumnavigation and unforgettable visits to 47 countries
and 29 island colonies.
Highlights include close contact with primitive cultures and people they
met underway, natives as well as fellow offshore sailors from around the
world. Contact with radio amateurs worldwide, the ocean crossings, transits
of the Panama and Corinthian Canals, paradisiacal anchorages and helping
poor people in isolated places with eyeglasses ("gift of eye sight").
In San Plas, Panama, they helped a Kuna Indian family transport a dead
man on NOR SIGLAR's deck from one island to another to his funeral. In
Morocco, they "adopted" a poor Muslim family.
The Lows include collision with a whale, injured crew, storm in the Gulf
of Papagayo (Nicaragua), groundings and electrolysis, caught in a huge
fish net on the Indian Ocean, two break-ins, half a year in pirate infested
waters, the Skipper's back operation in Morocco, emergency stop in Algeria,
SEASICKNESS, and much, much more...
Anne Brevig has documented the highs and lows from these adventures in
the form of six entertaining slide shows. They are broken down in geographical
areas as follows:
- Vancouver - Norway
- Norway - Turkey
- Turkey - Trinidad
- Trinidad - Fiji
- Fiji - Norway
- Nor Siglar - 9 years on the 7 seas
Fulfilling a dream
Each presentation lasts abt. 2 hours incl. a 15-min. intermission and
question period. They have been shown at yacht clubs and various organizations
in Norway and Vancouver, including the Maritime Museum in Oslo, the Planetarium
in Vancouver - and on a Color Line crossing between Norway and Sweden.
